Intermediate Skills & Rescues
July 27 - July 28
“The First Half Of a Roll Is Easy”
Intermediate Skills and Rescues Weekend
7/27 – 7/28
Coastal Connecticut/Rhode Island Area
Geared towards anyone from aspiring to intermediate open water paddler, this event combines active water skills with rescues appropriate to those conditions. Options for paddle venues include modest level tide races, surf and rock gardening.
Coastal Connecticut features some of the best opportunities for tide races on the eastern seaboard. Rhode Island has some fantastic surf and rock venues. We’ll go to where conditions are best to work on comfort and control in moving water and the techniques for dealing with inevitable mishaps: Contact tows, rope tows, toggle tows and all flavors of self and assisted rescues, etc… Mid summer warm water will be our friend and we’ll spend plenty of time in it.
This event is meant enable participants to forecast fun conditions and safely enjoy engaging with them. It’s super fun stuff but, all too often, avoided by paddlers.
Skill Level: Modest To Comfy Intermediate Open Water Paddlers
Price: $350 for course itself. We can investigate housing options once the head count is in if the participants are interested.
